Positive thinking equals positive benefits
Having a positive attitude comes naturally to some people, but it’s a struggle for others. Even though it’s hard to stay positive when times are tough, it is possible to achieve more positivity by working at it. There are ways to practice being more positive and eventually this will become part of your life and will get you better results.
“A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes. It is a catalyst and it sparks extraordinary results.”
Wade Boggs
What are the benefits of positive thinking?
There are so many benefits to being in a positive frame of mind, and here are 5 important ones:
#1. Improve your relationships. Nobody likes a negative person. All people respond far better to somebody who is positive than somebody who is always seeing the negative side. This can have an effect on relationships such as marriages, work relationships, friendships, etc. A person with a positive outlook will therefore have better relationships, a more successful marriage, better work relationships and more friends.
#2. Improve your confidence. This is because a positive person is more inclined to feel that they will succeed, their self-worth is higher and therefore they are more confident than a person with a negative attitude.
#3. Reduce stress. A positive attitude means less stress because you are less fearful of a bad outcome. A life without stress is difficult to achieve but there is a lot we can do to reduce our stress levels by not focusing on the negative aspects of the situation.
#4. Improve health. Studies have shown that optimistic people have a lower risk of heart disease and are overall healthier than negative thinkers. The fact that positive thinking reduces stress also helps in lowering blood pressure and helps to improve mental health.
#5. Increase success. A positive attitude opens doors, it opens our mind and lets us see things in a different light. A negative mood is the opposite and doesn’t give us the right platform to expand our abilities. Succesful people have a positive mindset more often than not. When you think positively, you are on a positive path and more likely to move forward. Thinking negatively is likely to make you hold back and miss opportunities.

Can positive thinking bring happiness?
This is just a small selection of some of the benefits that a positive attitude can help achieve but there are many more. As the quote above by Wade Boggs says, ‘a positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events and outcomes.’ Problems always seem smaller when we feel positive, and we seem to attract good things when we are positive. And above all, being positive is really about being happy. When we feel positive, we feel happy. When we feel happy, we can achieve so much.
This post has been about the benefits of a positive attitude but did you know we can actually learn to be more positive? Even when times are hard? There are techniques that can help and you can read about them in my next post.
